Went into the ER with severe lower back pain. Dr. Ordered an MRI, like yeah no problem except for the fact I am clusterphobic and no way I was going through being placed in a narrow capsule. Technician Terrisa was wonderful and nurse Kaley both work with me and through their gentle TLC I did it. Wow.

Amazing experience and I can't thank the team enough for their support and services. This review is not just based on my experience but also for what I witnessed around with other patients, family members and others at the facility the days I was treated. I am thankful and grateful for the staff at the ER, ICU, MRI/ CT Scan technicians, Physicians, Nurses, Clerks, Security/ Sanitation and everyone that helped me through it all. Be good, kind and God bless!!!

The annual respiratory crisis is on us. Serious enogh for Emergency Room. There is an order of treatment for Medical Care. Visit an ER for: Allergic reactions to food Animal or bug bites Constant vomiting Continuous bleeding Severe shortness of breath Broken bones Visit an Urgent Care for: Flu and cold Coughs and sore throat High fevers Vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain Cuts and severe scrapes Broken bones We qualified for the ER today. Any mote info is TMI. I don't understand why Dignity St. Joe's has a 2.5 rating here on Yelp. I do understand angst, impatience and "This isn't like television/videos at all." It's more like reality. Did you know you can give advance warning online that you're headed here? Quite nice. I didn't know we could look up our March 2023 ER visit recotds online. We can. Very nice. Why 5 Stars? I've kept Emergency Rooms in business about 62 years. Or 65 years. We used to joke in my family that Holy Cross Hospital, San Fernando, CA was built to handle our falls, concussions, cuts, toadstool dining episodes, excessive gravel rash etc. I've been in rural ERs, Urban ones, Public Health ones, Sick bays, but no overseas/out of country ERs. Thank our Creator! I was "mature" in my out of US journeys. My wife has had most of her care in a different medival system. If you think Dignity's level of Emergency Care is worth a Hissy fit you might go volcanic in her hard-pressed primary care system. I promise you, MANY hours of waiting except in extreme cases. I promise hard-pressed staff. I promise a decent response, but not quite Top Flight Care. When we arrived, the intake process captured primary data. The rest was collected later as we settled. We were triaged within minutes, Had further evaluation minutes later, waiting for a primary step in care. My Lovely has a frame honed by thousands of years in Southwest deserts. Her veins are small, buried. deep under her skin. I know how goid a phlebotomist is by the level of her suffering and bruising on her beautiful arms. Today, first try, infant needle, no bruising or sub-surface blood. When our ancestors were swept away by pneumonia there were no respiratory therapists or really good treatments. We have that in this age. Give Thanks. For our ancestors, IV fluids were medical science fiction. Pain killer - alcoholic drink. Maybe poppy. THE SWARM of speciaiists and experts in this ER is fantastic. I know when we arrive there will be some waiting. I know my loved ones will receive great care. Now that staff is back from lunch, I'm going to grab an inexpensive bite. Yum! Think outside yourself when you see the halls lined with gurneys, hear the announcments of EMT Wagon arrivals with vritically injured, see the packed waiting room. Good Care Ahead.

Last week, my 94 year old Mom underwent Hernia Surgery at St. Joseph's Hospital. The 2 1/2 hour surgery was performed by Dr. Gillespie and his team. The photo below was taken 10-minutes after surgery in the recovery room. Needless to say the surgery and results were FANTASTIC! My Mom has been admitted to a total of 5 area hospitals in the past 5 years - leg breaks, a stroke, etc., the other hospitals rank between POOR to MEDIOCRE yet their facilities and treatment allow me to make a fair comparison and make this statement: "St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center is the BEST HOSPITAL with the BEST CARE in Maricopa County." Pre-Surgery: Due to my Mothers age, Dr. Gillespie arranged for an in depth pre-surgical work-up at the hospital. The moment we entered the hospital we were acknowledged, given instructions and escorted to our next destination. The attention to detail was amazing, there were no missed steps, no minor errors or inconveniences - it was a perfect service experience with care and concern. The hospital check-in was facilitated at this appointment. Day of Surgery: Early arrival at 5:00am and Valet Parking was there to assist. Entering the hospital we were greeted, acknowledged and provided specific instructions for our next check point. Within 3-minutes we were at our Surgery Check-in Desk. My 94 year old Mother was in great spirits and felt confident about the surgery and especially her surgeon, Dr. Thomas Gillespie! Post Surgery: After 2 1/2 hours my Mom was taken to the Recovery Room and she looked amazing. She was awake, lucid and safe. Dr. Gillespie made a point to find our family in the surgery waiting room (it was a beautiful room with comfortable chairs) he reviewed the surgery and we were surprised to learn my Mom had 5 hernias (not just 2) and Dr. Gillespie found and addressed a dangerous hernia called "the little old lady hernia" which is fatal for many women. My Mom spent one night in St. Joseph's (normally a patient would be released to return home after the surgery but due to her age we requested she be allowed to stay one night). My sister stayed with my Mom overnight and there was a very comfortable sleeping lounge in the room for her comfort. We were assigned an amazing nurse, Anthony Nguyen, who looked after my Mother as if she were a new born baby - tender, caring and gentle! The room was comfortable, the TV offered my Mom her favorite shows, the meals were delicious and the care was wonderful. If anyone reading this review is looking for a phenomenal health care facility I urge you to consider St. Joseph's Hospital and anyone dealing with hernias should phone Dr. Gillespie - our family believes he saved the life and health of our Mother. Thank you Dr. Gillespie.
